ALL STUDENTS:

Student Council General Meeting Tuesday, April 16th at 6:00 p.m. in the Media Center.  All PPBHS students are welcome!  Help us plan our upcoming spring events, which include community service, kindness activities, recognition events, and Battle of the Classes!

Every 3 seconds, someone in the United States needs blood.  Are you 16 years or older?  Want to help save lives?  Student Council and New Jersey Blood Services will be running a Blood Drive on Wednesday, April 17th from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the Auxiliary gym.  All students need a signed parental consent form and teacher permission to receive an appointment.  See Ms. Salvatoriello in the Counseling Office for a permission slip and to make an appointment.  No student walk-ins are allowed.

April is Financial Literacy Month –

April is Financial Literacy Month –  The Facts:

  • In N.J., 67% of adults are unable to answer more than three of the five basic financial literary questions correctly.
  • 26% of N.J. residence have unpaid medical bills, the #1 reason families declare bankruptcy.
  • 18% of N.J. families are spending more than they earn which means they cannot save.
  • 32% of N.J. families only pay the minimum on credit cards (extremely expensive)
  • 54% of N.J. residence did not compare credit card offers or interest rates before accepting a credit card agreement.
  • 56% of N.J. residence have not tried to figure out their savings needed for retirement.
  • 44% of N.J. families do not have any emergency savings.

ALL STUDENTS:

CHEERLEADING: There will be a meeting on Wednesday, April 10th in the high school cafeteria at 2:45 for anyone interested in the 2019-2020 fall and winter cheerleading season.  Important information on next year’s tryouts, parent meeting and more will be discussed.  Passes are available to any spring athlete if needed.  Please email ahover@pointpleasant.k12.nj.us if there is any major conflict.

Interested in helping plan Relay for Life?  Great leadership and volunteer opportunities!  Please attend an event-planning meeting on Tuesday, April 9th in the Media Center at 6:30 p.m.  Please see Ms. Salvatoriello in the Counseling Office with any questions.

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life will be on Friday, June 14th at Windward Beach!  Teams and participants can sign up online at RelayForLife.org/NOCNJ.  See Ms. Salvatoriello in the Counseling Office with any questions.

ALL STUDENTS:

April is Financial Literacy Month – The state of New Jersey has a graduation requirement that students complete a minimum of a half-year course of financial, economic or entrepreneurial literary.  Point Pleasant Borough High School has multiple opportunities for our students to earn this graduation requirement.  **Tip of the day:  “A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went”.

JUNIORS: Prom bids will only be for sale today - Friday, April 5th after school in room 210.  Must have a completed permission slip for each person attending.  Cost is $65.00 per person.  More information was sent to your school email.  See Ms. Loveland with any questions.
