Professional Development

profdevOur teachers are our most important assets in maintaining the high quality standards of learning placed on our community's children. Ongoing professional development is essential to maintain those standards. The Point Pleasant School District participates in a variety of continuing professional development initiatives to help teachers improve their teaching practices and ultimately their students' achievements.

District-wide workshops are offered throughout the year to help teachers expand their knowledge in content areas, as well as sharpen their classroom management skills. The faculty is encouraged to incorporate current technological standards into instructional strategies in all content areas.

During the summer sessions teachers may expand their knowledge of differentiated instruction, alternative assessments and writing across curricula through available workshops.

The district also participates in a Teacher Induction Program to assist new teachers in realizing their professional potential. A long-standing initiative, the three-year program provides comprehensive assistance to new teachers in the form of mentoring, collaborative learning, professional development and standards-based evaluation.

At Point Pleasant Schools we are fortunate to have a faculty that proactively seeks programs to increase skills and educational and instructional improvements to better serve their students. The administration encourages this spirit and will continue to offer our teachers professionally enriching programs.
