Frequently Asked Questions

Note: ParentOnline is now SchoolCafe. If you have an existing ParentOnline account you DO NOT need to create a new account in SchoolCafé — sign in with the same username and password that you used in ParentOnline. Also, all of your existing students, balances, cards, configurations, and settings remain the same. You'll also notice that previous ParentOnline references in emails, phone notifications, and bank statements will now reflect "SchoolCafé".

Q: Am I required to have a SchoolCafe account?
A: No. All students attending Point Pleasant Borough Schools are included in the SchoolCafe database; however, parents must first register to activate the account.

Q: What if I don't want my child to have a SchoolCafe account?
A: In addition to offering the convenience of online meal payments, SchoolCafe also helps parents monitor their child's cafeteria purchases and set any necessary dietary or spending restrictions. These services are available regardless of whether parents opt to fund the account; however, if a parent wishes to terminate their child's SchoolCafe account, they may do so by contacting Denise McCarthy in the Business Office at extension 2406 or via email at dmccarthy@pointpleasant.k12.nj.us.

Q: Am I required to fund my SchoolCafe account?
A: No.

Q: How do I fund my SchoolCafe account?
A: Parents have the option of funding their account online, using a credit or debit card. Additionally, students may bring a cash or check to their school cafeteria and have the money deposited in their SchoolCafe account.

Q: Is there a fee to fund my SchoolCafe account?
A: A $1.95 convenience fee will be charged per transaction when funding an account online. The fee is charged ONLY if a transaction is completed online. Parents have free, unlimited access to view their account information; the fee is charged only when an online account transaction occurs.

Q: How long does it take an online payment to show up in my child’s account?
A: All transactions are done in real time-to show up in the account depends upon the server’s transmission time.

Q: Are fees charged for each transaction?
A: One browser session equates to a transaction. For example, if a parent/guardian has four children in their household and $ 5.00 is deposited into each child’s account, $ 1.95 would be charged as if it’s one transaction.

Q: Is my pay information, including credit/debit card numbers safe?
A: Yes, it is encrypted and does not reside on our server.

Q: Who, beside myself, can access my child’s account?
A: Besides the district and Cybersoft, anyone who has an account established with a   login/password- it can be a grandparent, uncle, aunt, father, mother.

Q: Can I view what my child purchases from the cafeteria?
A: Yes and the report is exportable to Excel.

Q: Is there a minimum balance?
A: No.

Q: Will I be notified if my child’s account balance is low?
A: Yes, you have the ability to establish the alert threshold.

Q: I have children in multiple district schools, can I create one account to manage them all?
A: Yes. You can also allocate a specific amount for each child.

Q: Will my child be allowed to purchase food items for other children?
A: Whatever is on the student’s tray during their transaction will be charged to the student’s account. However, you can establish restrictions through SchoolCafe through the food restrictions tab.

Q: Is SchoolCafe supported on mobile devices?
A: Yes! SchoolCafe apps are available for Apple and Android devices. Note: The ParentOnline app it will be discontinued effective 10/31/2016.
