In a video announcement, Kelsey spoke to the students about the Six Pillars of Character and the influence the pillars have had on her life and her career, and the role they've played in helping her earn her spot among professional soccer teams the Portland Thorns and Valerenga football club, based in Norway.  Video

Christie Rampone was born in 1975 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, but grew up in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, where she attended Point Pleasant Borough High School. She was a four-sport athlete in soccer, field hockey, basketball and track, and was the first New Jersey female athlete to lead her conference in scoring in three different sports. In basketball, she totaled 2,190 points during her high school career. As a result, Rampone earned all-state honors in soccer, basketball and field hockey.  Read More

Point Pleasant Borough High School Class of 2013 alumna and current Boston College sophomore Kelly Hughes has been named to the All-ACC Academic team. The achievement was announced March 6 by the Atlantic Coast Conference in Greensboro, North Carolina. Hughes was one of 20 players named to the team. The Point Boro native led BC in scoring (14.6 ppg.), rebounding (7.0 rpg.) and hit a career-high and team-high 81 three-pointers.  Read More

Ocean Road Elementary School Speech Therapist Ms. Jennifer Malpass's daughter Mackenzie's video, in which she urges people to donate to the charity Oceans of Love, is one of the top entries in the Mazda Drive 4 Good contest. In their video submissions, contestants were required to nominate charities they thought were deserving of assistance for a top prize of $30,000 worth of goods and services to assist the winning charity's mission. Point Pleasant Borough High School alumnus Kelsey Haycook has been named a CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team honoree at LaSalle University, where she is currently a senior. Haycook, who carries a 3.79 GPA as a nutrition major, leads the Atlantic 10 in goals (15) and points (33) this season as the Explorers sit alone atop the A-10 standings with two regular season games left.  Read More
